My Story


Training

Sveta started her training at the age of three, under the guidance of Late Pandit Jialal Vasant. From the age of eleven, she became the Shishya of Shrimati Manik Bhide, the distinguished artiste and teacher of Jaipur Atrauli Gharana. Sveta also learnt Thumri from the renowned musicologist and talented artiste of the Purabi Gharana, Late Dr. Aneeta Sen. She is now taking guidance in Thumri of Banaras ang from Smt. Manju Sundaram of Banaras.

Concerts & Performances

Sveta has performed extensively at various festivals, thematic concerts, and baithaks across India and the world. Besides India, she has had successful and well-received concert tours and lecture demonstrations across USA, UK, Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Her musical support to well-known Kathak exponents has evoked spontaneous appreciation from knowledgeable audiences across the globe.

The HCL concerts Baithak series in 2021.

Featured in the tribute to Begum Akthar concert by the Sangeet Natak Academy at Kamani Auditorium Delhi.

Invited by Nrityam Arts Kuala Lumpur to perform for the prestigious concert held as a tribute to the great “Abbaji” Ustad Allarakha Khan.

Curated and performed at the Jaipur Kala Chaupal 2017 at Diggi Palace in Jaipur.

Part of “Taal Express” and “Anthar Agni” by the Temple of Fine Arts Singapore with tours to Singapore, Malaysia. “Anthar Agni” was part of the prestigious Georgetown Festival Penang.

Performed “Krishna-Rajani” at Singapore’s Esplanade Theater which was well appreciated by the music lovers of Singapore.

Shyaam Ke Rang a thematic concert organised by the Indian High Commission in collaboration with ICCR, at the Indian Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The “Pratah Swar” concert at the Ravindra Natya Mandir Foyer Mumbai, organized by Pancham Nishad.

Part of a highly acclaimed concert tour called ‘Waqt’ based on Javed Akhtar’s poetry, which was performed at prestigious venues all over the UK – the most prominent being Queen Elizabeth Hall with house full shows.

Invited by the National Centre for Performing Arts Mumbai, to perform under the Pu. La. Foundation established by the inimitable P. L. Deshpande.

Co-founder of “The Baithak Experience” a unique curated home baithak series featuring young talented artists which was very well received in the city of Gurgaon.

Accompanied the illustrious Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande on several occasions in India as well as abroad.

Performed at several music forums and festivals, like Swar Sadhana Samiti, Bhatkhande Festival Raipur, Elephanta & Ajanta Ellora Caves festival organized by the Maharashtra State Tourism Department, Canara Union Bangalore, India International Centre Delhi, Ganavardhan Pune, Udayan Mumbai, Hubli Arts Circle, Ustad Alladiya Khan Saheb Smriti Samaroh Samiti Dharwad, Kanara Saraswat Association, Khayal Trust & Kalabharati Mumbai, Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeetha Sabha, and Suburban Music Circle.

Music Recordings

In 2011, the album “Sajanwa” a compilation of Romantic thumris and this was nominated in the best semi-classical album category at the Global Indian Music Awards GIMA 2011.

Featured in the album “The Lost Souls” and “Mud Doll” by renowned UK composer, Niraj Chag released in London by Buzz-erk Records.

Composed and sang a Thumri for the award-winning Marathi movie ‘Uttarayan’.

As a child artist sang for various movies under music directors like R. D. Burman and Laxmikant Pyarelal in movies like Mr. India, Raam Tere Kitne Naam, and Manzil Manzil.

In June 2020 released a single ‘Nayya’ along with well-known Carnatic Percussionist Viveick Ragopalan.

Recorded Thumris for The Peninsula Studios Noida.


Awards & Recognition

The Two-year Guru-Shishya Parampara scholarship for classical music initiated by Sajan Milap.

The All-India Radio prize for Light Classical Music. She has performed for the All India Radio.

The National Scholarship for Light Classical Music of the Government of India, New Delhi.

Conferred the title ‘SUR-MANI’ by the Sur Singer Samsad Mumbai.


Teaching Experience

Teaching faculty at “The Temple of Fine Arts Kuala Lumpur and Singapore” from year 2011- 2014. She is currently continuing a hybrid model with the institution.

Trained students at various institutions in Mumbai like ‘Ankur activity club, Mumbai’ and ‘Deeksha Academy of Classical dance and music’ Mumbai.

Music faculty at Shree Mumbadevi Vidya Mandir, Mumbai.

Trained students in Jakarta ,Shanghai and Gurgaon during her stay there and been training students on the internet from across the region.

Faculty with The Foundation Room an online music platform run by the Pt. Kartik Kumar Foundation.


Education

An Architect from Mumbai University, Sveta chose her first love, Music. Gifted with a rich open voice and a strong aesthetic sense, she has been doing Adhyayan of Classical music for over thirty years.
